Insurance Scholarship Foundation of America

The creation of an educational foundation had been a long range goal of the Executive Boards of the National Association of Insurance Women (International). This goal was achieved on July 8, 1993 when the NAIW Education Foundation was officially incorporated. The Foundation gained its IRS 501 (c) (3) status on March 24, 1994. This status allows gifts to the Foundation to be tax deductible.

The National Association of Insurance Women (International) provided $25,000 in seed money for the establishment of the Foundation. From this seed money sprouted a Foundation operated solely by donations from individuals, industry groups, foundations, corporations and industry-related businesses.

Just 10 months after its inception, NAIW Education Foundation awarded its first scholarships. Today, over 200 insurance professionals have received NAIW Education Foundation professional scholarships and well over 100 college students have benefited from the Foundation's college scholarship program.

In June of 2005, with a strong commitment to its beginnings, the NAIW Education Foundation will begin to operate as the Insurance Scholarship Foundation of America: Founded by Members of NAIW. This growth will allow the Foundation to continue with its commitment to NAIW and its members as well as to reach toward its vision of being the largest and most recognized provider of insurance-related scholarships in America.
