Kentucky Thoroughbred
October 2006

Our Kentucky Thoroughbred for October is a team. Together they have held every important position at the local, state and regional level. Together they have helped all of us realize that “we are the key to NAIW’s future.”

Mary Stafford and Lorene Friedman are two of the most hard working members of LAIP and IPNK, Kentucky and Region IV. Together they led Region IV last year and this year, bringing new programs for our members not needing CE credits in the form of the craft show at regional last year and the tea party to be held this coming year. Their close camaraderie helps them to bounce ideas off one another and come up with excellent ideas to further our whole region.
Merry & Contrary

As individuals they have some pretty outstanding credentials, too!

On the local level Mary was instrumental in setting up LAIP’s literacy program and their Florence Barry Scholarship. Mary also is a past recipient of the Kentucky Independent Agents CSR of the year award. She also has earned her CISR, ACSR, CPIW and DAE designations and held most, if not all, offices at the local level. She served as a state director twice and has held every office at the state level, too. And last but not least, she is currently serving her second term as our Regional Vice President. Very impressive!

Lorene has brought IPNK, KSAIW and Region IV into the 21st Century. Her efforts in setting up the IPNK and KSAIW websites and maintaining Region IV have been nothing but phenomenal. These efforts also earned her the AAMGA award at both the state and regional levels. Lorene has held most offices at the local level, was public relations chairman and State Director at the state level and served on the nominating committee and as the CWC chairman at the regional level. She also served as assistant to a past state director and is currently Assistant to the RVP at the regional level. One of her greatest abilities is her ability of persuasion. She has brought 7 corporate partners to IPNK and 4 corporate partners to KSAIW. She is the only member who has added this to her credit.

When asked where do you go from here, both of them said our future is in mentoring the members coming up. Answering their questions about our association of choice and helping them to take their place in the leadership of NAIW. (Oh, yes, and one of them wants to be a parliamentarian!)

On the personal side, between them they have 8 children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. That’s quite a few potential NAIW members!

Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Eubanks, ARA, ACS, AIAA, CPIW
President, IPNK
